Boarding School Prefect (MBSH)
I’m sure that you were sent to the St. Ignatius School for Wayward and/or Unpleasant Girls unfairly--that utility shed fire was the uninspired work of an amateur. Nevertheless, you found yourself thriving under the school’s strict rules and even stricter customs, and so it’s perfectly natural that you’ve found yourself in charge of your sixty-three shifty, underachieving classmates--and that starts with ensuring that every last one made her bed the proper way this morning. You thrive on forcing unwanted good habits on others, and they’re the habits you practice yourself--either because you’ve always been full of grim foresight and self-control, or because you’ve learned that even prefects have to follow their own rules. Even your enemies respect you, and, despite your reputation for being a little too intense at the worst times, your friends are genuinely happy to see you--at least until you start correcting their grammar or giving unwanted dating advice.
Of course, once you leave St. Ignatius you’ll find that there are several kinds of “being in control.” Perhaps you’re going to write a novel with every single comma perfectly in its place. Certainly you could open a nice, spotless coffee shop and give Roger, the new barista, a slightly menacing glance every morning until he makes the perfect cup of espresso ninety-eight times out of a hundred. If you go down paths like those, you’ll probably be happy, and we’ll all describe you with words like “conscientious” or “dedicated.” But why not put a thousand mom-and-pop shops out of business by developing “Uber, But For Small, Friendly Interactions”? Or you could become the CEO of Nintendo, and then mandate that every employee do fifteen minutes of cardio every morning, no exceptions. You’re already an expert at doing things the right way, why hold yourself back?
